Work in Progress Wednesday

It's been ages since I posted a WIP Wednesday post.  I am now down to 3 quilts in my WIP list (not including my 2 long term hand sewing projects).  However I have only made progress on one of them this week.

Little windows block progress

These are some blocks for a little windows quilt I started in a class years ago now.  I still love the red & aqua colour combination.  I can't decide how big to go with this - do I make it into a pram or snuggle quilt for baby or keep going and make a decent lap sized quilt for me?  Any suggestions?

Crochet blanket progress

I'm also making slow progress on my crochet blanket - I need my Mum to come and visit again to help me speed it up!

No progress
  • 9 patch quilt
  • Rachel's quilt
  • Spring Carnival cushion
Finishes

I have, however, finished quite a few projects since my last WIP post - unsurprisingly baby related! Two baby quilts blogged here and here.

Fabric buckets as a swap for the friend who made this balloon picture for the nursery.

More fabric buckets for a friend

Bunting for the nursery made from Make Life and Summersville fabrics.

And finally a ribbon tag blanket for baby (inspired by Sarah)

New projects

Thanks to the supply of an emergency FQ of Summersville from the lovely Trudi I can start making these fabrics into cushions.  I am following Lynne's Moda Bake shop tutorial

Next project - cushions!

3 more lovely things (not made by me!)

Having a baby is a bit like getting married.  Aside from the fact that it takes months to prepare and people take a lot of photos - you also get a lot of lovely gifts!  I've been really lucky to get some beautiful handmade gifts which I've already blogged about here.  I think friends who know I make things hopefully also know that I appreciate the work and effort in handmade gifts (and also know that I will never say that I saw something similar in a shop for £10!!!)

Well this weekend I met up with a lovely friend who gave me the beautiful gifts below for the baby.  Rather embarrasingly (as I vaguely knew she had done some knitting in the past) I had texted to see if joining in a new ball of wool on my beginner knitting project was something she would be able to help with.  (Safe to say she could do that with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back!)

I'm informed that all of these patterns are in Debbie Bliss' Essential Baby Knits book.  I'll be back soon with some progress on things I have actually made myself!

January in review

I seem to have completely missed that yesterday was the 1st February so I am a little late with this post.  Back here I set out what I hoped to achieve this year in terms of Sewing, Stashing & Blogging and I am pretty pleased with how it has been going in January.

Sewing

I finished a UFO that I had been working on since last summer.

I've also being making progress on my baby makes list

January Baby Makes Collage

And a little progress on some other old WIPs

Stashing

My sewing room nursery now looks like this:

Nursery in progress
The baby has a quilt and a toy box - what more does it need really???

and my fabric stash and sewing projects are now stored here in a cupboard in my bedroom

New fabric storage

In January I used, sold or donated the equivalent of 26 yards of fabric and only acquired 6 yards so with a net de-stash of 20 yards it was a good start to the year!

Hopefully I can keep working on the UFOs and baby projects for February too.  Next on the list is finish the Summersville quilt and make some bunting from the nursery from this little stack of fabric.
