This is my entry into the Scrap Quilt category of Blogger's Quilt Festival
I have been making this quilt for a very long time. It is from Crazy Mom Quilts 9 patch a day quilt. Every time I made a quilt I used the scraps to make 9 patches. I love it because it reminds me of lots of quilts I have made and given away like this one and this one and this one.
I decided that being 8 and a half months pregnant was the perfect time to sash, baste and quilt a 66" x 90"quilt! In fact I finished machine sewing the binding on to the front half an hour before I went into labour.
I've been hand sewing the binding on in 10 minute gaps between baby feeding and cuddling and a trip to the mother in law's garden at the weekend provided the perfect photo backdrop.
First of all, congrats on the new baby - and yes I love your quilt too. Aren't memory type quilts the best! The white is the prefect backdrop for your lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteIs that the Ikea text fabric on the back? What's the weight of it compared with quilting cotton? I'm thinking of heading to the Bristol branch to stock up on cheap quilt backings but not sure how it'd work. If its good for a quilt it could save a big chunk of money!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Amanda :) It will always remind you of happy times, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised it is a favourite then! Well done Amanda it is one to be treasured!
ReplyDeleteGo you! Lovely quilt. Hope motherhood is going well.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Colours and I'm sure lots of memories of quilts gone by.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely - a great way to remember fabrics you used to have and quilts you've made.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That's so neat--a way to remember those quilts that are sometimes a little hard to let go of!! Enjoy your little one and good luck with everything.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt, and lovely photo shoot for it too!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of using up the scraps at the end of each quilt, it looks great, and love your photo location!

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt, and such a good idea for holding onto a little bit of each quilt we give away! I love it. Congratulations on the baby and the quilt :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt! It's a great idea to have a 9-patch from all you've done. I think I might start that myself. Looks like I'll also get to meet you at the FQR in July. Woohoo for new friends! :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I did that once too... and totally regretted it the next day. :P Basting a quilt at 8 months definitely requires some serious motivation! I love your scrappy 9-patch. It turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Such a simple design - I think that's what makes it amazing!!!
ReplyDeletepretty :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link to the Blogger’s Quilt Festival. That would be an interesting contest in which to prepare for next year. There were a number of fascinating entries but I think that your entry is very strong. I like the other previous quilt work as well from the pictures.
